Review of AE (Worthing) written by a carer

Despite the aggressive NHS cuts and privatisation ideology of Jeremy Hunt and the Tories, the staff at Worthing A&E took very good care of my daughter whom I brought in with a wrist fracture. While the dept’ was busy we were not kept waiting for too long and each member of staff we came into contact with from reception, through triage and onto doctors and X-ray dept were patient, reassuring professional and kind. Thank you all very much and I sincerely hope that the NHS gets the funding it deserves. All of the staff within the NHS do not get the credit you richly deserve.

I was in for day surgery. All the staff I saw were kind, reassuring and helpful. They kept me informed of possible waiting times and how the day would go. The care received was good. To further improve I would suggest a follow up appointment, even if only over the phone, as sometimes you do not always take everything in when they talk to you immediately after coming out of surgery.

I attended Southland's Hospital for a hysteroscopy & biopsies on 26th January. I wanted to firstly congratulate & thank the staff for their superbly supportive and empathic care. Secondly, comment that the standards of cleanliness was excellent. All staff were helpful and despite being busy, presented as interested & commited to the well-being of their patients. Thirdly, I was petrified and almost chickened out and requested a general, but the staff put me at ease and the procedure was ok. The discomfort was made tolerable by the local anaesthetic. If anyone has to experience this procedure, please be reassured the staff will care for you as if you were their only patient and it is much easier than the biopsies in the fast response clinic with no local anaesthetic! Thank you Southland's!

Everybody I met at the Breast Care Unit, Chanctonbury Suite in the Medical Day Case Unit and the Chemotherapy Unit were superb. Kind and caring, making the whole experience of breast surgery manageable.

The staff were generally friendly and helpful. However the waiting room and the breast care clinic were both extremely cold - I was sitting in a waiting room all day with my coat and gloves on. Better communication about the expected waiting time on surgery day would have also been helpful. Then I would have known what I was dealing with, rather than waiting all day with the expectation that I might be the next one in. Finally, it would be helpful if staff enforced the rule that anyone in the waiting room should not eat or drink - it is very difficult to watch someone else eating when you are still waiting for an operation and haven't eaten for some 20 hours!

I received excellent care. All staff were kind, caring and sensitive & worked as a team . In spite of some very challenging patients they were always cheerful & nothing was too much trouble. My treatment was very thorough The nurses on Eastbrook ward worked their socks off ! A credit to the N.H.S. Being very picky some of the food could have been a little better.

Having always been fit and healthy I suddenly found myself with breast cancer and undergoing three operations in quick succession at Worthing Hospital this year. Throughout this daunting period of time every member of staff I met was brilliant, caring and professional. They really go the extra mile to look after your every need. Their admin and appointment systems are very efficient too. Our NHS at its best in my opinion and I have nothing but praise for this hospital.

My son was sent up here today (23/12/17) from out of hours drs, and the nurses working this afternoon (we were there 3-6.20pm) were fantastic, they couldn’t of done more if they tried. They were all so nice, we were there with our 2 year old son Harley, but we also had our other 2 children with us. They allowed them to play in the play room, let us make a hot drink each, and also gave all 3 of our children dinner as it was getting late. Whilst we were waiting to get discharged, they made all 3 of my children’s day and gave them all a Christmas present from Santa. These presents were fantastic, we were amazed. I would like these ladies (sorry don’t know their names) to be praised and our sincere thanks given to them. Amazing ladies. Thank you.
